District profile: Digby-Annapolis includes the town of Digby, which has about one-third of the district's residents, and its surrounding areas, as well as parts of Annapolis County and the Bear River Reserve.

While fishing, fish processing and manufacturing are important and generate about one-quarter of employment, there are many jobs in the service and trade sectors.

The riding is home to a provincial theme park and wilderness areas that include Kejimkujik National Park. There is also whale watching in the Bay of Fundy.

Political history

The district was created in 1993 when Digby merged with the western half of Annapolis West.

The former district of Digby was held by veteran Liberal Joe Casey from 1970 to 1993 with only one lapse from 1984 to 1988, when Casey did not run and the district was won by the PCs.

Since then, the riding has flipped between the Liberals and PCs, with the Liberals winning the last two elections.
