Current MLA: Leo Glavine (LIB)

District profile: Kings West includes the town of Berwick in the north and Aylesford and Greenwood in the south. This area of Kings County has undergone a period of economic growth this decade with an expansion at CFB Greenwood and other retailers and factories.

In 1993, it lost part of its territory to the districts of Kings North and Kings South.

Political history

Kings West had been a PC stronghold for 25 years, at least until the middle of the 2000s. George Moody of Berwick, a former cabinet minister, represented the area as a PC for 20 years.

However, in 2003, the Tory electoral fortunes turned. Liberal Leo Glavine defeated incumbent Jon Carey by 116 votes and repeated the feat with a strong re-election showing over his PC rival in 2006.
