View these results in the interactive map »This riding contains the city of Fort Saskatchewan in the northeast, as well as most of the northeast corner of Edmonton. It is bounded by the city limits in the north and east and by Township Road 522 in the south. Highway 216, 34th Street, the North Saskatchewan River, the CN Rail line, Highway 15, 167th Avenue and 97th Street form the western boundary.
About 13 per cent of those in the riding are immigrants. Eighty-five per cent of residents listed English as their mother tongue in the 2006 census, while just under two per cent listed French. It's a riding of home owners, who outnumber renters 81 to 19 per cent.
Retail trade, the service sector, manufacturing and construction are the major employers. The average family income is $101,216 and unemployment is 4.1 per cent.
Edmonton-Sherwood Park was created in 2004 by combining 57 per cent of the Elk Island riding with 28 per cent of Edmonton Centre-East and eight per cent of Edmonton North.

Political History
Conservative Ken Epp won in the 2006 election over Liberal Ron Symic. In 2004, Epp held the seat under the Conservative banner. He first won in Elk Island in 1993 and 1997 as a Reformer and again in 2000 as a member of the Canadian Alliance.
Before 1993, this area elected Tories - Peter Elzinga, in Pembina riding, from 1974 to 1984, then Walter Van De Walle in a 1986 Pembina byelection and Brian O'Kurley in Elk Island in 1988.
