Send a news tip by:

  • Online form: Use the form to the left to tell us your story. You can attach any documents, photos, video or audio relevant to the story

  • Call: (780) 468-7401

Be sure to tell us:

  • Your name

  • When and where it has happened, if it applies

CBC News Edmonton wants you to hear your story.

What's happening where you live?
What's important to you?
What counts in your community?

We want you to call us when breaking news happen, for example, if you witness an emergency or accident.

We also want to know if something has happened to you that others should know about, or you know of wrong-doing we should report on.

If you contact us, your identity will be kept confidential, unless we do a story and you agree to participate.

Submission FAQs

Why do you want me to contribute?

We believe our journalism is stronger when our audience is involved. You can help make our range of stories and sources richer and more diverse.

We're making it easier for you to contribute your expertise, opinions, story ideas, photos, and video - online and on the air.

You might be aware of something the public should know, and we want to help you share it.

What happens when I send in a news tip?

A CBC journalist may contact you for more information or to see if you are willing to participate in a news story.

We like to include audience input as part of CBC Programming. Please indicate if you do not want your submission used.

What happens when I upload a photo, video or audio?

A CBC journalist will look at the photograph or video footage, and decide if it has a place on our website or in a TV or radio broadcast.

We may contact you to ask questions to verify what is in the picture, and other details like when and where it was taken if you didn't provide them initially.

We can only accept images you actually took yourself. No pulling pictures from other websites, please.

If we use your photo or video, you will be credited and you'll keep ownership of the copyright.

Here's the release you'll be asked to agree to when you send in an image:

I agree that the CBC may use the Photograph that I have submitted under the following terms and conditions:

  • I own this Photograph, and I own all the rights, including copyright, necessary to submit this Photograph to CBC.
  • I am the sole owner of copyright on this Photograph, and I understand that I am granting CBC the nonexclusive right to use it in any way that CBC sees fit.
  • I consent to indemnify CBC against any claim, demand, action, suit, or other proceedings against CBC arising out of the use of the photograph and related to any false or inaccurate statement.
  • I grant this authorization free of charge.
  • Participants who have modeled or posed in the photo have assigned all relevant rights to me.

What kind of comments would you like?

We want your perspective. Probe, analyze, inform. Challenge, advocate, debate. Inspire, entertain, enjoy. Your contributions make our online publishing and on-air programming richer, the conversations more lively and diverse.

What should I watch out for?

Please keep your submissions relevant to the topic. Be civil. When you are writing about court cases, remember that people are innocent until proven guilty. Be careful about racist, sexist and offensive language. Also we don't want personal attacks or defamatory statements.

We want to hear your own opinion. Please don't include lengthy excerpts from other posts or press releases. And no commercial promotions or external web addresses, please. Don't break copyright rules, violate someone's privacy or suggest committing a criminal act.

I'd like more information regarding your submission guidelines. Where can I find that?

The above rules highlight our guidelines in plain English. For those keen to read the fine print, the CBC's official Submissions Policy is a detailed legal notice governing the actual terms of use of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's interactive web platforms by the public.
