Daybreak Kamloops

Daybreak Kamloops delivers invigorating morning radio that's fresh, honest and community focused.

Shelley Joyce does serious and quirky interviews that make listeners late for work because they can’t turn their radios off.

The Team

Shelley Joyce, Host

A longtime Kamloopsian, Shelley (top left) is a familiar voice for local CBC listeners. Since 2006, her stories have been heard on Daybreak South broadcasting from Kelowna. Her items have also been heard on CBC national radio programs like The Current and The Story from Here.

Shelley has hosted radio programs in Vancouver and Victoria - often from a radio studio in the basement of her Kamloops home.

Doug Herbert, News Anchor

After graduating BCIT, Doug (bottom left) began his journalism career in Vancouver. He anchored radio newscasts and reported from the field, covering a wide range of stories from elections to the Stanley Cup riot.

Doug moved to Kamloops in 2011, immersing himself in the community, and breaking stories that have gone beyond the local market.

Rob Polson, Producer

Arriving in Kamloops in the late 1980's, Rob (top right) eventually worked his way into the anchor's chair at CFJC TV. He then spent 10 years producing TV news at CBC in Vancouver. CBC's arrival in Kamloops is a dream come true for Rob, and he's very happy to be back.

Josh Pagé, Associate Producer

A Rider's fan from Saskatchewan, Josh is excited to be out in the mountains. He studied journalism at the University of Regina, covered City Hall for the Prince Albert Daily Herald, contributed to CBC Saskatchewan's morning show, and most recently produced the province's daily call-in show Blue Sky.

Jackie Sharkey

Jackie Sharkey is CBC’s digital reporter/editor and manages the Daybreak Kamloops and Daybreak South websites, writes for cbc.ca/bc and still finds time for her first love, radio.

Originally from PEI, Jackie started with CBC Radio in Quebec City in 2007, worked as a reporter in Rankin Inlet, NU, before making the move to sunny Kelowna in 2009. When not furiously updating her many websites, she can be found cruising around town on her bicycle, sipping Okanagan wines and appearing in local theatre productions.
