Career Background: Has been a writer and professor at various universities in Canada. Has also worked as a communications entrepreneur for media and the Joggins Fossil Cliffs, a world heritage site on the Bay of Fundy. Is currently a professor at Dalhousie University.

Career Background: Worked as a human rights and equity professional for eight years and is now practising law at a firm in Halifax.

Community Activities: Co-ordinated women's soccer for the 1993 World University Games and the Ottawa leg of the Queen's Baton Relay for the 1994 Commonwealth Games. Also worked as an athletics field of play marshal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and served as mission staff for the 1999 Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook, N.L.

Megan Leslie

Education: Graduated from Dalhousie University with a law degree.

Profession: Legal aid worker

Career Background: Since graduating from Dalhousie, she has worked as a community legal worker at Dalhousie Legal Aid Service. She also teaches law to third-year students in Halifax.

Community Activities: Is a leader in the Affordable Energy Coalition, which deals with issues of energy poverty, energy efficiency and the current power rate structure. Has been a speaker at conferences held by such groups as the Canadian Public Health Association, the Public Legal Education Association of Canada and the UN Conference on Climate Change in Montreal. For her community work she was declared a Holly’s House Hero by the Elizabeth Fry Society in 2008, and in 2004 was the recipient of the Muriel Duckworth award, presented annually to a woman making a significant contribution to the advancement of women within Canada.
