Children: Two sons - Christopher and the late Russell

Career Background: Upon graduating, he went to work as a farm herdsman. For many years, he worked as a cattle buyer at Toronto Stockyards. During this time, he started a band as well as the Brougham County Jamboree on his farm.

Community Activities: He founded Herizon House, a shelter for women and children, and was a founding member of the Brougham Youth and Family Action Centre. Also volunteered with the Ajax-Pickering Hospital, United Way, Easter Seals, Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada, the Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation, the Canadian Cleft Lip and Palate Family Association and is involved with local sports teams. He also chaired the Cassidy Golf Tournament for Community Living and the Ontario Athlete of the Year Syl Apps Award Selection Committee. He helped raise over $10 million for Children's Charities and received the Durham Region Man Of Distinction Award, the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, and the Economic Development Council of Ontario President's Award. He is also the first honorary Big Brother for Ajax-Pickering.

Electoral History

Municipal: First elected in 1988 as a councillor of Ward 3 of Pickering. Re-elected in 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2006 in Pickering and Durham.

Profession: Real estate broker, filmmaker

Children: Two - Hannah and Silas

Career Background: Is a fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI), and earned the Certified Property Manager designation (CPM). After becoming a director of a national real estate organization and writing a number of real estate texts, started a production company to produce music videos and films.

Party: Liberal Party of Canada

Year of Birth: 1974

Children: Three children

Career Background: Has represented west Durham as a Councillor with the Region of Durham and the City of Pickering and served as a regional councillor since 2000. In 2004, was elected MPP for Ajax-Pickering and was re-elected in 2006.

Community Activities: Has served as a member of the Durham Region Police Services Board, Veridian Corporation’s Board of Directors, the Durham West Arts Centre’s Board of Directors, and the Canadian Association of Nuclear Host Communities. Also served as Chair of Pickering’s Winterfest and Chair of the Waterfront Coordinating Committee.

Electoral History

Municipal: Elected in 1997, representing west Durham as a Councillor with the Region of Durham and the City of Pickering. Has served as as a Regional Councillor since 2000.

Federal: Elected as a Liberal in the riding of Ajax-Pickering in the 2004 federal election. Re-elected in 2006.

Political History

Committee: Has served as vice-chair of the standing committee on Public Accounts, as a member of the standing committees on Finance and Industry, and on the Liberal caucus special committee on Cities and Communities.
