Partner in the law firm Rooney Prentice and specializes in property rights and has handled a number of relocations, environmental protection suits, and cases arising from restricted development areas. Served as a commissioner of the Indian Claims Commission of Canada for 10 years. Has owned and operated weekly newspapers, and has been part owner of a retail business in Canmore. Has also been involved in real estate - the developer of acreage developments, commercial developments, and highway-commercial lands.

Community Activities: Served for seven years on the board of directors at Calgary Winter Club, including stints as president and chairman. Active member and volunteer leader in the Grace Presbyterian Church. Has volunteered as an advocate for learning-disabled kids, and coached kids hockey.

Served as a lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces.
