Career Background: Is a tenured faculty member at Red Deer College, teaching in the Computer Systems Technology Department, and was a database administrator at Agriculture Financial Services Corporation in Lacombe before that. Prior to a career in information technology, worked as a fisheries technician for Alberta Fish and Wildlife and as a provincial park ranger, and was ranger-in-charge at Red Lodge Provincial Park. Also served as a National Park Warden in Jasper National Park.

Municipal: Was a member of the Lacombe Town Council and served on the board of directors of the Lacombe Municipal Ambulance Society, the board of directors for Family and Community Support Services, the municipal planning commission, David Thompson Tourist Council and the Disaster Services Committee.

Party: Became a member in 1996. Served on the candidate nomination committee for the Canadian Alliance Wetaskiwin Riding in 1999, and joined the Board of Directors in 2000. Has held numerous board positions, including president, vice-president and director of communications.

Career Background: After graduating, he spent 15 years as a teacher and coach at Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alta. Most notably, he is the personal coach of Beckie Scott, an Olympic Gold Medalist in cross-country skiing.
Community Activities: He was an active member and president of the Lacombe 4-H Beef Club and the United Church Youth. He also worked as a wilderness river canoe guide during the summer months for the past 20 years, leading expeditions across Canada's Arctic from the Yukon to Nunavut.

Federal: Ran unsuccessfully as a Progressive Conservative in Lakeland in 1997. After joining the Green Party in 2004, he ran unsuccessfully in Quebec that year in Manicouagan and in 2006 in Charlesbourg-Haute-Saint-Charles.

Organizer for the Terry Fox Run for 15 years, and volunteer at the Edmonton Folk Festival for eight years. On the board at first United Church in Wetaskiwin.
