network

Network - A system that allows two or more computers to communicate with each other. On a small scale, two computers sharing an internet connection in a home is considered a small local area network (LAN). Larger LANs can connect computers in an office or a small group of buildings. Larger networks, called metropolitan area networks (MANs) could span a city or a campus. The internet is a network of networks, called a wide area network (WAN), that spans the globe. See also Wireless network.
