The herring dispute between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island fishermen is now in its fourth year. It began with a meeting of fishermen in 2001, re-erupted into violent protests in 2003. The tensions have continued to simmer into the fall of 2004.

Here's a short timeline of what's happened since the seiners arrived off the coast of P.E.I.
