2010 FIFA World Cup ™

The North American qualifiers

The North American qualifying zone (CONCACAF) for the 2010 World Cup sees 24 countires paired off in a series of two-game playoffs (home and away).

The 12 playoff winners advance to the second round where they will be divided into four round-robin groups. The top two teams in each group advance to the final round, which runs from Feb. 11, 2009 to Oct. 14, 2009.

The final round is a six-team round robin, with the top three teams automatically qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. The fourth-place team will meet the fifth-place team from the South American qualifying zone (CONEMBOL) in a two-game playoff, with the winner advancing to the World Cup.
