Hotspot - An area where a computer can connect to a wireless network, created by a wireless router. Hotspots tend to be small, limited to a home or office, because radio waves are absorbed by metal and thick walls. In theory, though, a hotspot could stretch for several kilometres. Many cafés offer public hotspots so patrons can connect to the internet using laptops equipped with wireless adapters. See also Wardriving.
