Wardriving - Searching for wireless network hotspots by driving around with a laptop or handheld computer equipped with a wireless adapter and special software. If the wireless signals are not encrypted, a wardriver could gain access to the network. Without a car, it's called warwalking, and if someone marks found hotspots by writing on a building or on the ground, it's called warchalking. All the terms originate from wardialing, the hacking technique of using a modem to dial a range of telephone numbers to find an available computer network. See also Port scanner.
