A feature on 2004 ECMA winner Birchmountain Bluegrass Band and their latest recording The Shores Of Nova Scotia. Larry Boutilier was Born January 1st 1959 in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. He was introduced to music at a very early age and was surrounded by music all his life. He first learned to play guitar at age 11 and was introduced to various instruments and finally found the one that won his interest, this was a banjo. He spent hours listening to records and trying to imitate the which he heard by slowing the speed down on the records and then speeding them up to the proper speed. He then decided to join a group and put his talents to work. He played with many talented people and then decided to start a group of his own, "The Birchmountain Bluegrass Band" was born in 1978. Many excellent musicians have come and gone on to other projects and some have formed their own groups. Larry has had many influences in music such as well known Earl Scruggs, Roger Sprung, Kenny Baker and many others.
